B.Tech Biotechnology final year students have received 3rd prize and a consolation prize for poster presentation in National conference on "Emerging Trends in Non-communicable Disease: Road to Prevention and Cure" held at IMS Ghaziabad (University Courses Campus) on  17/11/2018.

Plantation drive by GEMS Society

GEMS Society of Department of Biotechnology has organized an event “Plantation of Medicinal Plant in the Herbal garden” on 25.08.18. During this event student of Biotechnology department planted various medicinal plants. In this event Head of the department, Prof. Rashmi Chandra and Coordinator of GEMS Dr. S.K. Mishra encouraged students to involve in herbal research and guided them for future prospects of medicinal plants.

Techno-cultural event by GEMS Society

GEMS Society of Department of Biotechnology organized a Techno-cultural event on 22.09.18. During this program student of Biotechnology department participated in various events like Technical Debate, Technical quiz competition, Dub Smash, One minute talent show, Picture perception. Faculty and staff of Biotechnology department motivated student for active involvement in such events. In one minute talent show students showed their qualities in singing, dancing and mimicry etc.

B.Tech Biotechnology fourth year students have visited Parle Biscuits Pvt. Ltd., Bahadurgarh Plant on 11/10/2018.

Hands-on-Training in Molecular Biology 2018

A Hands-on-Training in Molecular Biology was conducted by Department of Biotechnology from 4th June to 13th June, 2018. Various recent upcoming technologies in field of Biotechnology were taught to B. Tech (Biotechnology) second and third year students.  Hands-on session on techniques such as DNA isolation, Gene Cloning, Recombinant Protein Expression and SDS-PAGE were conducted by Dr. Meghna Singh and Dr. Indu Bhatt, Assistant Professors, Department of Biotechnology. Each year this training is held by Department of Biotechnology to prepare students to meet industry requirements and enhance their technical acumen. We congratulate all the participants for the successful completion of this training.

Farewell party

Farewell party was organized by Biotechnology Department of IMS Engineering College, Ghaziabad on 21/04/2018 for its passing out batch (2014-18). The party started with a formal speech of Prof. Rashmi Chandra, Head of the Department followed by many singing and dancing performances by third year students. A contest to decide Mr. and Miss farewell was also organized. The program ended by recalling all four year memories of 2014-18 batch with the help of a musical slideshow followed by diner. The programme was indeed a great success and memorable for all the passing out students of department. 

Student Project Exhibition on Engineering Design (SPEED)

Students of B.Tech Biotech got Best Innovation Award with Cash Prize of Rs 5000/- in Student Project Exhibition on Engineering Design (SPEED) 2018 held at G.D. Goenka University, Gurugram, Haryana on March 16, 2018. The title of project was " Design and optimization of a Prototype for Bio-electricity production from human/ animal urine.

Industrial visit to Yakult-Danone

An industrial visit has been organised for second year of B.Tech Biotechnology students on 26/02/2018 at Yakult-Danone India Pvt. Ltd., Sonipat, Haryana. Yakult is known for its probiotic drink in Indian market. Students keenly understood entire production process and their marketing strategies. The trip was indeed very successful and informative for students.  

Biofiesta-2018

Students Society of Biotechnology Department, GEMS (Genetic Engineers and Molecular Scientists) have organized a Techno-cultural program "Biofiesta-2018" on 10th February 2018. During the event students of Biotechnology department along with students of other department participated in the programs such as  Technical Debate, Technical Picture Perception, One minute talent show, Dub Smash, Karaoke &  Scientoon. Certificate were given by GEMS society to all the winners and   participants.

Poster presentation at Sharda University

Final year students of B.Tech Biotechnology, presented poster for their research at National Conference on Recent Advancements in Biotechnology and Bioengineering organized at Sharda University held from Nov 2-3, 2017.

Guest Lecture by Mr. Ankit Sharma

GEMS Society of Biotechnology Department organized a guest lecture on 23rd October, 2017. The invited guest for the lecture was Mr. Ankit Sharma, senior scientist, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Ltd., Gurugram. He delivered his talk on "The career opportunities after B.Tech Biotechnology".

Poster presentation at World Congress, New Delhi

Final year students of B.Tech(BT) won first prize in Poster making competition at World Congress on Biotechnology and Biological Sciences (WCBBS) 2017. The topic of poster was "Methylation of promoter region of tumour suppressor genes in Lung Carcinoma".

2-days workshop 

Department of Biotechnology organized 2-days workshop on “Recent Advancements in Industrial Biotechnology” which was held on 4th and 5th August 2017.  The speakers on day one of the workshop were Dr. S.N. Mukhopadhyay, Professor, Department of Biochemical Engineering & BioTechnology, IIT, Delhi and Dr. Vikas Vats, National Applications Manager, Lab Mate Asia Pvt. Ltd. New Delhi. The speakers on day two of the workshop were Dr. K Unnikumar, Research consultant – Life Sciences, Toxicology & Biotechnology and Mr. Varun Arora, Director, Greenway  Technologies, Ghaziabad.

Guest lecture by Dr. Tripti Bhatnagar

The Department of Biotechnology, IMS Engineering College organized a guest lecture by Dr. Tripti Bhatnagar, Managing Director, Codon Biotech Pvt. Ltd., Noida on 10th February 2017. In her lecture on the topic entitled "Entrepreneurship in Biotechnology", she talked about various successful startups in the area of Biotechnology and gave insight on how one can become a successful entrepreneur. She also discussed the key points that one should consider for becoming an entrepreneur as well as the different obstacles in the path to become a successful entrepreneur.

National Conference

"Department of Biotechnology has organised a National Conference on "Biotechnological perspectives in Healthcare" on July 16th, 2016. The chief guest and key note speaker of the program was Prof. R.N.K. Bamezai, Professor, School of Life Sciences, JNU, New Delhi and Former Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, Katra, Jammu, J&K. The prominent session chairs included Dr. Anju Shrivastava, Professor, DU, Prof. M.Z. Abdin, Jamia Hamdard (Deemed University), Delhi, Dr. Virendra Tiwari, Dabur Research Foundation and Dr. Rudra Prasad Acharya, Senior consultant, Max-super speciality Hospital, New Delhi.
